American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Reading is in Massachusetts, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Reading follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I LOVE this place. Like… genuinely LOVE it. ❤️ My absolute favorite is the smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese, onions, tomatoes, and capers. I don’t even remember the exact name of it, and the funniest thing is that it’s not even listed on the menu behind the counter. WHY?! 😂 If something is this good, it deserves its own billboard! I know I probably sound a little dramatic, but I swear I’m not exaggerating. I’ve lived in Massachusetts long enough to know that finding a bagel this good, this big, and at this price is NOT easy. Usually, if you want this quality, you’re paying a lot more. And if the price is similar, the size or quality is usually disappointing. The bagels are HUGE. I can normally only eat half. 😂 But they’re so good that sometimes I convince myself I can eat more… and then five minutes later I’m sitting there thinking, “Why did I do this to myself?” 🤣 And the price?! I think I paid around $21 for TWO bagels. That’s an incredible deal for the size and quality. And I have to mention the staff because they deserve some love too. They’re always so sweet, friendly, and welcoming. And most of them are Brazilian, so of course they automatically have a special place in

You should really think about adding a description of what one constitutes being in the express line and what they can or cannot order. I wanted a bagel with a side of cream cheese and figured because it was one thing and one cup that it could be placed in a bag quickly as I did not ask toasted nor to have cream cheese on it. After waiting in the express line for over 10 minutes and finally getting to the front of the line, the person handling the express lane, walked away from the counter and said should be right back. Three minutes later, a different person asked me to take my order and informed me that because I was ordering cream cheese I had to wait in the ridiculously long line as this was not an express lane purchase. It took her longer to inform me of this then it would to grab the two items and place them in a bag. I left with no items and will not be back.

No bagel is worth being passively-aggressively berated for not instinctively knowing their draconian drive-through rules, which are only posted on a tiny sign around the corner from where I waited 20 minutes in my car before seeing. Full story: I was visiting friends in North Reading and decided to treat them to a bagel breakfast and came here based on the positive reviews. I was directed to wait in one of the two drive through lines by an employee standing at the curb (no further instructions or information was provided to prepare me for what came next). I waited 20 minutes or so, then made it around the corner then noticed a tiny sign posted that said I’d be limited to 3 sandwiches. I thought “OK, fine” thinking a bagel with butter or cream cheese did not qualify as a sandwich. However, when I got to the window to order and exceeded the maximum due to the buttered bagels I ordered, I expressed surprise and asked if those counted as sandwiches, the woman on the speaker yelled “IT’S ONLY BEEN TEN YEARS!!!” Well, I don’t live in North Reading so how would I know? Perhaps she could have suggested unsliced bagels with butter on the side instead. No, she chose to make herself feel bigg

I came in about 2 weeks ago and got the same order I almost always get. I take a sip of my coffee and it tasted oddly sweet and a little cloudy for a black coffee (we’ll get back to that) but I let it go assuming maybe it was just brewed wrong or they gave me a different coffee by mistake. I get to work and start eating my sandwhich and I find myself chewing on the longest piece of hair possible. I know it wasn’t mine because my hair is a completely different color and length. I wrote an email to the store regarding it. About an hour passes and the ice melts in my coffee, and the condensation goes down and I finally see what I’m tasting in my coffee.. I see this white stuff floating in my coffee. A lot of it. Not bottom of the barrel coffee grounds. White fluffy stuff. I wrote a second email to them because I don’t think I could be any more disgusted after the hair I had in my mouth prior, but I was. I didn’t get a response so I called the store for a few days and never got a hold of anyone. When I finally did they took down a note and said the manager would call me back but never did. I did eventually get a response to one of my emails.. they were telling me about their catering

I visited after reading several Reddit posts exclaiming that Bagel World offers some of the best bagels in MA. The service was quick, prices were affordable, and they offered several interesting flavors like french toast, asiago everything, and more. Overall, the bagels were solid. I’m not quite at the best bagels in MA, but definitely really good. I would definitely visit again. They also have a drive thru!
